We’re sending out a little *cheers* to all of our great cutomers, families, and friends. We hope that you and yours are having a fun-filled, safe, holiday season.

It’s the time of year to start getting ready for fruit trees, over abundant gardens, and delicious berries. It’s also time to figure out what to do with it all. Canning! We have  everything you need to do it, and we’ll even show you how, (just head on over to the event calendar, or DIY for details), it’s not nearly as hard as you might think.

We’ve also got phase two of the *hunter, gatherer* season arriving on shelves. Yep, dehydrators, jerky makers, and home food slicers.

Two words that are being used often in the Electrical department are LED, and solar. In part because of changes in government legislation, and our focus on helping to keep our plant “green”, over the course of the next few years most lighting will be converted to LED or solar based lighting.

We’ve all witnessed how bright an LED flashlight is, but so far LED’s for use in the home have been expensive, and less illuminating than the conventional light bulb. The real benefit to LED lighting is that they use very little electricity to operate, and rarely burn out. LED bulbs took a big jump towards becoming more cost effective though last week, as many LED’s decreased in price by about 25%.

Now’s a great time to buy solar powered exterior lighting. You can get pathway markers, birdbaths, bird feeders, and garden stakes all powered by solar energy. We have an incredible early season selection so come in and we’ll help you get something just right for your needs.

We know… you’re asking yourself right now what could possibly be new and exciting in the Plumbing Department? We’re going to tell you about a couple of items.

Did you know that there are fittings that can easily slip onto a piece of pipe, fixing a leak without having to use a solder? These awesome little fittings are called Shark Bite fittings and can be used on copper, pex, or cpvc plastic. Cold and hot water lines. They are especially handy when changing out a hot water heater. With Shark Bite fittings and a new flexline/valve combo you can change your own hot water heater with very little effort.

Another great new item is Silicone Fusion Tape, sometimes called “rescue tape”. It can be considered a new necessity to all household and vehicle toolboxes. This tape fuses to itself, repairing broken hoses, belts, and even o-rings. Fusion Tape stretches like a rubber band to go around anything that leaks and will form a water tight seal. It also insulates around electrical wires, keeps battery cables from corroding, can rubberize tool handles, and fix that leaky garden hose.

What a great time to be painting. Everyone has something around their house that could use a little sprucing up. Look around, be bold and daring. Spring will be coming fast upon us and paint is a great way to get rid of the winter blues.
